Is Portland’s Nursing home Community booming with the influx of people moving here?
We all know Portland for its hip cool places to eat, food trucks, plethora of live shows in shotty bars, but what some people don’t know is that Portland is actually a very large retirement city. But why is that? What does Portland have that is so unique that so many are moving here for. Its been said here, that lots of San Jose and San Francisco money is moving up north because their dollars in homes can go much further.
Cats out of the bag, gonna be moving to Portland with Sonja in a month or so! Really excited for weather and a smaller city to live in!

Within the streets of downtown are mongering homeless people that honestly choose to be. I have personally spoken with a few of them and they are healthy normal people that often times left corporate America for a much simpler lifestyle. They can be caught hanging out under the Burnside Bridge or near Voodoo Donuts (A local Favorite). But the most interesting thing that has been happening is the housing market. People from the Silicon Valley realm have made their money elsewhere but still cannot afford a simple house in the valley within California. So what do they do? They seek north for a more climate change of weather and much less Housing prices so they can get the best of the best within Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah County.
So with everyone moving here, the Oregon population naturally grows. This means that families and their elderly loved ones come with them so that grandparents are near their kids. Because of this, there has been a surge of nursing homes and Memory care facilities popping up around town. Some are affordable and mundane (nothing special about them) and others are very extravagant with tons of amenities like salons, movie theatres and full sized gyms with swimming pools.
Dylan Prime however, has stuck to its roots because it has been within the Portland Metro area for from than 13 years (established in 2001). We started in the roots of Portland on Hawthorne Blvd. but quickly expanded into multiple locations through Portland. There are memory care units within Clackamas, Nursing Homes in Hillsboro and they all range in amenities and price like mentioned above.
One of the very cool features is that if we do not have occupancy in one of our locations or if the resident isn’t an absolute fit, we do not send you on your way. We have you work with one of our Senior Placement Specialists and they will guide/ hold your hand through the entire transition. They will give you a free assessment, visit homes (and Adult foster homes if you want) until we find the right fit together. This is something that no one else offers in the service or area.
If you are interested in visiting one of our locations or even need help finding a place that suits you best, Give us a call or contact us here.
